Mining Museum
Inverell is the centre of what has been one of the richest mining
areas in Australia. The district has yielded a range of minerals and gemstones - Tin,
Sapphires, Diamonds, Silver, lead, Zinc, gold, coal and more have been found in the
area.
The Mining Museum has a collection of gemstones, mineral samples, Photographs,
mining tools and equipment dating from the late 1800’s, along with a working model
of a Sapphire Washing Plant and a Static model Tin Dredge on display. The Arthur
Cosh collection of gemstones, fossils and other specimens from around the world are
also displayed in the Museum.
